About Me

I have been blessed in my senior years with two of the best and most fascinating jobs in the world: being an official court reporter and being able to talk about grammar, research, ethics, and all elements that are involved in our profession.

I have been an official since 1998 and have been offering workshops, first in Georgia and then throughout the country, since 1991.

Prior to working in our field, I was an instructor at the Medical College of Georgia and at Duke University, my alma mater. During my two years at the Medical College I taught patient relations to doctors, business English, and policies and procedures.

At Duke I spent ten years educating staff about equal opportunity requirements and union negotiations as well as policies and procedures.

To say that working with fellow reporters is easier is an understatement, but honestly as my sainted mama said I think I was meant to teach. I am genuinely excited about grammar and punctuation, which scares some, of course, and I'm thrilled when I can explain something in a way that it becomes simple and less confusing.

My husband, Lee, and I live in Augusta with our two wild and wonderful dogs, DeDe and Taz. The family--with the exception of my sweet niece Angie and her family in Dallas, Texas--is still in North Carolina. We get together as often as we can to commiserate about Duke football and rave about Duke basketball.
