In-Person Workshops
The last seminar I went to was in November of 2007 at the Tropicana Hotel in San Antonio. We walked in after a break to find Sue sitting in a chair fanning herself. Someone asked her if she was really that hot. Sue said, "Honey, I haven't been cool since 1980." We all abruptly burst out laughing, and that was my introduction to her. I love her wit and zaniness and wouldn't miss an opportunity to see her action for the world.

“This is my first chance to tell you how much I loved your portion of the workshop in San Antonio. Hands down you are the best, most interesting and entertaining speaker at any continuing education course I’ve attended in 15 years.”

Grammar, to me, is the heart of court reporting. We have to transcribe and punctuate the spoken words; therefore, that can become quite challenging. It's great to attend grammar workshops, but you just can't cover all the grammatical questions that come up. You sit there and think: Wouldn't it be great if I could have questions answered individually on an as-need basis, because not everything can be covered in a workshop. Well, that day came for me. During one of Sue McDuffie's grammar and proofing workshops, Sue said, if you have any questions in regard to grammar, send me an email. I was a little hesitant at first, but I did it.
Sue responded to all my questions as promptly as she could. She responded in a way that not only corrected the grammar but explained why she felt that was the correct way to punctuate it. But sometimes, as Sue says, you just have to "pick your poison". To have this kind of individualized help is just what I needed. I'm really looking forward to her guide book 30 + Things That Drive Us Crazy.
Thanks so much Sue for your professionalism, willingness to share your knowledge on an individualized basis in furtherance of the court reporting profession.
